My summer has been full of great mountain adventures, and as the weeks go by, I’m feeling pretty darn good about how I’m handling the exertion. A big step: my body is able to recover from heavy exercise much better than it could over the past few years of autoimmune struggle. I got kind-of greedy early in the summer, and laid down a bunch of great backcountry days in the mountains of the Pacific Northwest; hikes, peaks, climbs, wandering adventures. What fun! It gave me the chance to see if and how I’d recover from back-to-back trips with just a few days between some pretty heavy exertion.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing some trip posts and more recipes that I tested this summer. Meanwhile, I wrote an article over on autoimmune-paleo.com, about ways to find the root causes for when exercise recovery becomes harder to handle. It’s a topic many people – with or without autoimmunity – struggle with. Having gone through a lot of ups and downs myself with this, I want to share what I learned in the hope it will help others on their journeys. Head on over to my article to find out more!
